Updating and consolidating documentation to focus on what is important – Smart Staff International

Issue:

A Tier 1 gold producer found at one of their sites that with each incident investigation, inadequate procedures or communication of procedures was identified as the root cause. Investigations also revealed some procedures were redundant or had been developed as a ‘bandaid’ to address immediate deficiencies.

Scope of Work:

SSI was requested to review the entire department’s documentation and make recommendations for improvement. The client accepted all the recommendations made by SSI.

Summary of what SSI Provided:

Templates were developed, the content reviewed and information re-templated. SSI reduced the original number of documents by two-thirds whilst ensuring that all content was cross checked to ensure investigation outcomes were not lost in the review. Due to the recognised value added, other departments then applied the same or similar process.
